Polypropylene FDY yarn production process is simple, there are "one step spinning" and "two steps spinning". It is characterized by the use of polypropylene resin with melt flow index MFI=5-40 and molecular weight distribution index MWD<7, spinning at 400-1600/ min speed, and then two-stage traction and twisting in the spindle type traction twister to produce high-strength polypropylene filament with complex filament size of 400-1600 min.
Polypropylene FDY yarn near the flame is melting, flammable, from the fire burning slowly and black smoke, the upper end of the flame yellow, the lower end of the blue, exudes the smell of oil, after burning the ash for a hard round light yellow brown particles, hand twist fragile. Because of the simple production process of polypropylene FDY yarn, the product is cheap, the strength is high, the relative density is light and so on. At present, it is the fourth largest variety of synthetic fibers, and it is the lighter fiber in the common chemical fibers. However, the thermal stability is poor, not resistant to sunlight, easy to aging brittle damage, for which anti-aging agents are often added to polypropylene.
